I’ve been making this design for about forty years, almost since I began designing and silversmithing while pregnant with my first son, Reeve. Clients who have owned theirs for decades tell me they still wear them all the time. That’s my favorite kind of jewelry.
One, two, three, or four strands
Wear it as one long strand, wrap it into two or three graduated strands, or wind it four times into a custom-fit choker. Knot it for a little 1920s glamour, wrap it as a bracelet, or add charms to your layers. Fold and connect it with a Fables necklace shortener; my Broken Column is particularly beautiful with it.
For a little drama, I wear it open across my body, from my left shoulder diagonally toward my hip, secured with a brooch at the shoulder. Especially against black, it always gets comments. This is not your disappearing-into-the-background necklace.
The possibilities are endless. All right, not endless. But you may be experimenting for quite a while.
Made to fit you
The classic strand is approximately 60 inches long. I ask for your neck measurement and tailor the length so you can wrap it comfortably four times as a choker. A larger neck never means an extra charge. Please provide your neck measurement for your custom fit.
Available in sterling silver or gold vermeil over sterling silver. These are 7mm metal “pearls,” not natural or cultured pearls. Heart clasp. Made to order, handmade in the USA, and hand signed.
